Synopsis

Today one plant or animal species has disappeared from Earth. Only little needs to be done in order to keep the others.

The Czech republic is a territory with a number of rare biotopes, animal species and eco-systems. The protection of them is of Europe-wide interest. The Living Hearts of Europe is a cycle two-minute reports introducing these natural phenomena. Every part contains information of a specific species or locality, their role in the context of the Czech and European landscape and the means of their protection. The authors emphasise the local patriotism towards each unique species and illustrate this particular examples of the sensitive approach of people living or farming in the given locality. They follow the line of the cycle Czech Heads that animed a promotion Czech science and which gained the favour of the viewers as well as the respect of the scientific community. It is usually only ecologist and contentious issues that are seen in the Czech media, and this is why the production team focused on drawing the attention to the natural phenomena of our country.
